Why Garrett and Taylor didn't move to San Diego
By Ricky Valero
Since the Love is Blind Season 7 finale, there has been a lingering question about why Garrett and Taylor didn't move to San Diego after getting married. The couple made their first podcast appearance as a married couple on Nick Viall's The Viall Files. They revealed why they decided not to move to the West Coast on the podcast and we share that with you.
Season 7 of Love is Blind has been one of the most talked about, but more for the off-the-camera stuff. While that drama has been stirred up, one of the best couples of the season, Garrett and Taylor, has been lost in the shuffle. The science nerds found love on the show, which should be celebrated. I loved watching the couple come out across social media and the fun videos that have come along.
On The Viall Files, Taylor said that it had seemed they decided to move to San Diego after they got married on the show, but it was never discussed. Instead, it is where they would want to raise a family in five to seven years. Garrett cleared up the show's editing by saying the goal was to always live in Fredericksburg after the show's end.
Post-show, they spent three weeks in San Diego, followed by trips to Europe and Costa Rica, and were away from their families a lot. Garrett realized that he spent more time away from his friends and family than ever before, and on the flight home from Europe, he realized that he missed them quite a bit. Of course, this led to a difficult conversation with Taylor. Taylor mentioned that it was a difficult summer for the couple, leading to several complex discussions and trying to figure out their next moves.
Finally, after working with her therapist, Taylor realized that she and Garrett had become a unit and would work through whatever came their way together. She talked about how when they had kids, Fong had agreed to visit once a month, and her family had been supportive throughout the decision. Ultimately, the duo rest their heads in D.C. together, hoping to have a second wedding with their friends and families in the future.
The entire interview was interesting to hear the dynamic between the two wasn't as strong, to begin with, them not being initially attracted (I knew that she wasn't, but to hear he wasn't was wild) to one another. And the story about why they didn't move to San Diego was shocking because it was more of a Garrett decision than anything. I am excited to see what's next for the couple and wish them nothing but the best.
