The Wranglers Recap Episode 4: Tensions boil over on The Wranglers
By Matthew Fox
Things are getting feisty on the Circle Bar Dude Ranch. As we move into the fourth episode, there is plenty of drama and plenty of tears. But is any of it going anywhere interesting? Let’s dive in.
Chase and Gabby
When we left off, Chase was coughing up blood, leading to a medical call. As we pick up, he’s back and seemingly OK. He tells Gabby upon his return he has a bruised lung and a bruised heart and needs to take it easy. That wound doesn’t stop him from flirting, and the feeling is mutual.
Later, we see them growing closer around a campfire. Gabby has been drawn to Chase since he arrived, and she’s ready to move forward. So, it seems, is he. But where does that leave Carson? That’s a question he’s asking himself—and later asking of Gabby.
Carson decides to pull Gabby aside and accuse her of gaslighting him. She doesn’t appreciate the implication. It leads to a shouting match that draws the attention of everyone—including staff manager Carleigh. Carleigh lays down the law—either they settle their squabbles, or someone is going home. It’s an even worse look for Carson, who is supposed to be in leadership for the Wranglers.
He sheds some tears, then turns to some of the other guys for comfort. Gabby, meanwhile, turns back to Chase. They seem ready to become a couple, but will this back-and-forth with Carson get one of them sent home?
Homesick on the Ranch
Meanwhile we catch up with Jailyn, 21, who is struggling. She didn’t expect to miss home as much as she does, and it’s impacting her work. As she starts to be checked out on her job, it draws Carleigh’s attention. When Carleigh confronts her, Jailyn breaks down in tears and admits she doesn’t want to be there. So, she packs her things and leaves the ranch. It’s a stressful turn-of-events for everyone involved.
LA Ranchers
The customers of the week are a family from Los Angeles. Mom grew up on a ranch and wants to impart the experience to her kids. While the young brother is into, his teenage sister has some reservations. But it’s largely left up to Hunter to keep them entertained. Turns out, Hunter could use the distraction.
He still seems flummoxed as to why Katie is cold to him now. But he pours his frustration into his work, which seems to be a hit with the family. So, in the end, at least someone is having a good week!
That’s a wrap from the ranch for this week. Episodes of The Wranglers are now streaming on The CW App.
