5 reasons we want to see Jenn Tran join the Bachelor in Paradise season 10 cast
Season 21 of The Bachelorette was an uphill battle from the beginning for star Jenn Tran. Her eligible men didn’t seem like the best fits, and she struggled throughout the season to find the right person to give her final rose to. It turns out that she chose the worst person, possibly in the history of Bachelor Nation, and was forced to re-watch the proposal live on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose.
Since Jenn didn’t get her happily ever after with ex-fiancé Devin Strader, here are five reasons why we want to see her on Bachelor in Paradise.
1. She could use a break on the beach after her nightmare of a season
Many fans were surprised Jenn was cast as The Bachelorette. Her personality is memorable, but the leads usually are runners-up, or at least make it to hometowns.
Despite her underdog status, Jenn did her best to try to find her match with single men that didn’t seem to be cast with her in mind. From Sam N., who at 25 years old had never been in a relationship, to Sam M., who wanted a different Bachelorette and pressured Jenn to jump off the Sky Tower, ABC seemed to be swiping right on any contestant that had a Tinder bio. We can, and should, do better.
2. Devin should never have been cast
As if his manipulation were not enough, fans and journalists were able to spend all of five minutes finding Devin’s arrest record for alleged domestic abuse. This is something the producers should be doing to weed out unstable candidates. There’s no reason why someone with a criminal record, for an alleged violent offense, should be allowed to be in the mix on a show known for drama and putting contestants in difficult situations.
This isn’t the first, nor is it the last time it’s happened. According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of Joan Vassos’ current contestants, 60-year-old educator Gil, also had a temporary restraining order granted against him for allegations of stalking. Someone in The Bachelor casting department is asleep at the wheel.
3. Bachelor in Paradise is less intense than The Bachelorette
Bachelor Nation alum Mari Pepin revealed the Bachelor in Paradise experience is “much more relaxed” in an interview with TV Insider. While Mari mentioned in the same interview she wouldn’t recommend a stint on the beach for Jenn, we’re all for it. It's a beachside villa, six other couples to take the heat off your storyline, and is the most successful for finding love, according to Collider.
With nine seasons wrapped and a 10th on the way, there have been a total of nine marriages, and many engagements and long-term relationships throughout the years Bachelor in Paradise has been on air. Couples who have tied the knot include season 2’s Jade and Tanner and Ashley and Jared; season 4’s Raven and Adam; season 5’s Astrid and Kevin; season 6’s Caelynn and Dean and Hannah G. and Dylan; season 7’s Mari and Kenny, as well as Becca and Thomas and Serena and Joe.
4. We want to see Jenn’s story beyond Dancing with the Stars
It’s been a fun ride watching the Bachelor Nation cast dominate the dance floor season after season, but Jenn’s addition to the cast seems like a consolation prize for her. After forcing her to relive her engagement, she was added to the cast at the last minute. After all, DWTS already covered their contract with The Bachelor crew with season 28 bachelor Joey Graziadei.
Regardless, it’s great to see Jenn in a more light-hearted environment. She’s doing great! No subpar men are competing for screen time. There’s more sequins! She deserves more of a redemption tour than that though. ABC should be rolling out the red carpet anywhere Jenn wants after how her season went.
5. A second chance with Jonathon
Is it really over between Jenn and Jonathon Johnson? We know he’s going to be on the beach since he was the first cast member officially announced by ABC. Not to mention, Jenn and Jonathon have already been teasing fans with dating rumors on their socials. They clearly have a spark and have been hanging out while Jenn competes on Dancing with the Stars in Los Angeles. Let’s take this party to the beach, shall we?
