The Golden Bachelorette requested one MAJOR change to the Fantasy Suites

Joan Vassos has already made history as ABC’s first Golden Bachelorette, and she’s about to make even more history later this season as it seems she’s made a major change to the show’s Fantasy Suites. 

The Fantasy Suites are a staple in Bachelor Nation shows, typically coming at the end of the season when there are three or four contestants left and are a chance for the lead of the season to spend a private night with their contestants without the cameras rolling. The Fantasy Suites allow the leads to get to spend quality time with their remaining men/women in order to have meaningful conversations about their hopes for the future, and yes enjoy an intimate night should they choose to do so.  

More often than not, the leads will take advantage of the beautiful suites by spending the night together and sharing the bed for the night but that won’t be the case for Vassos and the men who make it to the Fantasy Suites stage of The Golden Bachelorette. 

As Vassos revealed in a recent appearance on The View, she made a special request with the producers to remove the bed from the equation altogether. 

“I said, ‘I want to do Fantasy Suites, but I don’t want to have a bed in there. And I’m taking that off the table,’” Vassos told the women of The View during an appearance on the show. 

Vassos made it clear that she does not pass judgment on the leads who have come before her, and that she opted to remove the bed from the equation in an effort to be true to herself. 

“I’m not judging anybody else, the way they did it. Just for me, that was the right way to do it,” Vassos shared, adding, “For me, I would never have a physical relationship with more than one person. “[It’s] just not a thing I would do.” 

For Vassos, the Fantasy Suites are incredibly valuable which is why she still wanted to take advantage of the ability to have those conversations with her suitors without the cameras rolling. Fortunately, the men of her season were all “very respectful” of the boundaries she put in place – not that we’re surprised given how amazing the men of The Golden Bachelorette are from what we’ve seen so far this season! 

We can only hope that future leads will feel comfortable in following Vassos' lead and changing the narrative of the Fantasy Suites to focus more on the intimate conversations they allow for.
