This season stars former Golden Bachelor contestant Joan Vassos, who self-eliminated early on in the show for a family medical emergency. About the Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos

Joan Vassos is from Rockville, Maryland. The 61-year-old has four children and three grandchildren. She was previously married but was widowed after her husband of 32 years passed of pancreatic cancer. According to her official bio on the ABC website, “when she's not working, Joan loves listening to Elton John, hanging with her dog, and cooking a delicious meal.”

Joan keeps busy with her dual careers as a school administrator and interior designer.
