Love is Blind Season 7 Tyler and Ashley talk about meeting for the first time
By Ricky Valero
Our favorite love-based reality TV show is back for its seventh season, this time with singles looking for love in Washington, D.C. The nation's capital and Love is Blind seem like a match made in heaven for several singles. We had seven on-screen engagements in the first batch, and I had the chance to catch up with one of the couples in Tyler and Ashley to talk about their engagement, that first meeting, and more.
Recently, with Love is Blind UK, we saw some of the nostalgia that reminded us why we love this show so much. We know there will be couples that don't make it, but the ones that do typically have journies that we all love to follow. Let's be honest we didn't expect Steven and Sabrina to fall apart the way they did, but it didn't make us hate the ride any less.
In this first batch of season 7, the singles from Washington, D.C., brought their A-game. One of the couples that stood out right away was Tyler and Ashley. The level of maturity and comfort they share provided a genuine connection. I asked Tyler what made him want to be so vulnerable with Ashley in the pods.
"On day one of meeting her, I felt safe. I've said multiple times that she made me feel safe, which I've never felt before. You know, men usually give that safety net, and she made me feel safe. So, I opened up immediately, and it felt comfortable. It felt natural."

After the connection strengthened, we saw Tyler get down on one knee and propose to Ashley. It was an easy yes for her, and of course, this led to my favorite part of the show's early stages: the reveal. You never know what will happen when the doors open and they meet each other for the first time. In my chat with Ashley, I asked about those nerves and expectations right before the meeting.
"Tyler and I had built such a connection in the pods that I was willing to continue that connection no matter what he looked like. However, it didn't hurt that he was a little easy on the eyes. Ironically, I didn't fall for you for this, but I think we both were pleased with what we saw, and the heart matched the package. "

Once things shifted to the tropics, the relationship between Ashley and Tyler continued to thrive. Even after the couple mixed and mingled with the other engaged couples, they showed a united front of strength, and both seemed destined for the altar. While the jury is still out on whether the couple said I do, I will be rooting for them in these next episodes.
Love is Blind Season 7 Episodes 1-6 are streaming on Netflix.
