Married at First Sight episode 4: wedding bliss or a miss?
Every time a new season of a dating show like Love is Blind or Married at First Sight comes out, I have such high hopes. We all want the perfect mix of true love, dynamic cast and, of course, drama. This season of MAFS looks promising enough to deliver the trifecta. Let's break down the newlyweds latest trials and tribulations.
Madison and Allen
Madison, if you hurt this man, America is coming for you. He brought a *banana* to the altar. He seems to be very accommodating and taking her lack of attraction to him on the chin. He even handled the very awkward STD testing talk with Madison's dad like a pro. Whose idea was that conversation? If my parents asked my partner about their sexual history, I would simply disown them, change my identity and move to a new planet. Props to Allen for being a good, responsible sport.
This couple is giving me Jamie and Doug from season 1 vibes. Rewind to Jamie being so unattracted to Doug she was huddled in a corner crying after saying "I do". Like Doug, Allen has the patience and understanding to know that love can take time to grow. Hopefully like the Hehners, Madison and Allen will make it the distance. Now Jamie and Doug are happily married for 10+ years and just welcomed a set of twin boys, to join their two other children. Attraction can grow!

Karla and Juan
These two are a wild match. I know sometimes opposites attract, and I can absolutely see the physical chemistry, but what were the matchmakers thinking?! Karla is the type of person I call hippy woo woo. She would 100% decide whether or not to date someone based on their rising sun or waxing moon or whatever the planets indicate. Juan seems to be the polar opposite. You know that man has a long list of pros and cons with bullet points and footnotes about being cast on the show.
When Karla kept bringing up her stance on finances, "money is energy", I wanted to call a financial advisor for her. If energy paid the bills, I'd be backordering Redbull IV therapy like there's no tomorrow. I love her freewheeling vibe, I just think it's a bit too free for a good partnership with Juan. The biggest conflict I can see between these two is Karla seems pretty insistent on being a stay at home mom. Juan's parents did not seem to approve, and we know family is very important to both of them.

Camille and Thomas
Yes, yes, yes. I didn't think these two were going to finish saying "I do" before asking for the keys to the honeymoon suite. This is a couple that gives me hope in the experts. I know that we can't have five perfect couples. What snoozeworthy TV that would be. But damn, these two should be the poster children for the new generation of Married at First Sight.
The biggest red flag I could see for the two is their ten year age gap. Their maturity level and personalities seem to balance each other out so far, so for them, age ain't nothing but a number. I also love the family dynamic between the two. Camille's sisters grilling Thomas at the wedding, and Thomas's brother giving Camille unfiltered insight into his twin were very sweet moments. It just further sealed the deal for me that not only is the couple a match, but the families would be well balanced too.
Odds of saying yes on decision day: 9/10 - I can't put all my eggs in one basket.
Michelle and David
Here's the trainwreck we all pretend we don't want but can't turn away from! Michelle, Michelle, Michelle. Do you think she's met Hannah from Love is Blind yet? These two would have a lot to talk about. Mainly how immature their significant others are.
Listen ladies, I get it. It is very difficult to live with a partner who hasn't lived on their own. You don't want to mother your husband. And who knows what Michelle asked for in a partner. If dating apps weren't so mess, I would never have thought to add "fully grown adult who has lived independently" to my list of relationship requirements. But girl, you have to get over it be over it at some point. These two have been having the same conversation about David's basement apartment since the wedding. His answers never change. Her questions are always the same. What is she looking for, a time machine?
At least, unlike Hannah, Michelle isn't blatantly rude and toxic about it. She just can't seem to wrap her mind around it. I don't think she ever will personally. I also think it's her out. She doesn't seem attracted to David, so she's picking a bigger issue to get stuck on.

Emem and Ikechi
I'm rooting for these two. They're my second favorite couple this season, but I do see some potential red flags ahead. Their physical chemistry is up there, but we know that isn't enough for a lasting partnership. Their bond over their upbringing, similar tastes, and nurturing careers lead me to believe they could go the distance.
Ikechi's confession he cheated though, is something I've learned will probably come back to bite fans in the behind. As a friendly reminder, the last time someone confessed cheating that was a plot point on a dating show, it also completely derailed the relationship. I'm looking at you, Stephen from season 7 of Love is Blind. Considering MAFS and LIB are made by the same production company, I've got my eye on this couple. I hope Ikechi isn't just looking for a laundry list of women sliding into his DMs post show, but my trust is not so easily earned any more, Kinetic. He has mentioned multiple times now he was supposed to be on the Houston season of Married at First Sight. I truly hope second time's the charm, but that little tidbit is causing the red flag to start to wave for me.
They did have my favorite line of the season though, and we're only four episodes in. "Legos come in different shapes and colors but they still fit." Adorable.
