When you think of Love Island USA stars, you probably imagine some of our nation’s most attractive singles donning bikinis and itty-bitty swim trunks—not gaudy faux fur coats and little mustaches. But Rob Rausch, eason 6’s resident snake wrangler, just threw us all for a loop, trading his signature overalls for a fashion-forward moment that has left fans a bit confused.
Ah, Love Island USA season 6—it simultaneously feels like it debuted just yesterday and also like it’s a distant memory. That might be because the stars from that season have done something rare: carved out massive fanbases outside of the show.
For the first time in Love Island history, the cast members have built huge followings independent of the show. Sure, Cely from season 2 stole our hearts, but even with her music career, she’s only amassed just over 700k followers. Meanwhile, breakout stars like Serena Page and JaNa Craig from season 5 are nearing 2 million followers each, with Leah Kateb leading the pack at an impressive 3.7 million fans.
Then there’s my personal favorite, Rob Rausch, the guy who had islanders peeling back his layers like an onion. Yesterday, December 30, Rob posted a carousel on Instagram for his 1.4 million followers, featuring himself layered up alongside fellow season 6 standouts Kaylor and Liv. The post, a partnership with Revolve, shows Rob looking a lot less like a snake wrangler and a lot more like a full-blown model.
In the photos, he’s rocking a faux fur coat over a matching faux fur shirt and wide-leg black trousers. Layers on layers. To top it all off, he debuted a mustache, which, surprisingly, fans are not too happy about. One Instagram user wrote, “Cut it off,” referring to his new facial hair, while another wrote, “Remove that immediately.” It’s unclear if the commenter meant his mustache or his heavy coat, but either way, it looks like fans prefer a clean-shaven Rob.
This post followed a steamy Instagram update from earlier this month (December 5), where Rob cheekily announced a calendar featuring photos of himself—which, tragically, had already sold out. The Rob Rausch calendar featured a healthy dose of shirtless Rob photos, which fans are obsessing over. It’s unclear if he will be restocking it anytime soon, but if he does, I’m still accepting late Christmas gifts.
All jokes aside, Rob has become one of the biggest breakout stars from his season, despite the conflicting opinions on his new look. Who would have thought our snake-wrangling island boy would end up modeling for a Revolve campaign? Layers, man. Layers!
